Teletherapy Speech Therapist in Toronto
Teletherapy is a form of service delivery where speech therapy is provided online, via video conferencing in the safety and comfort of your home. Therapy Spot, offers Speech-Language Therapy and Behaviour Analysis in clinic and/or via teletherapy. We offer assessment and treatment live with our Speech-Language Therapists (S-LP) and Board Certified Behaviour Analyst (BCBA).
At a time when COVID-19 is requiring social distancing, teletherapy offers direct 1:1 or group intervention that is safe and effective. You can receive Speech-Language Therapy and/or Behaviour coaching from the comfort of your home.
If you are struggling with your child’s behaviour and require some coaching, teletherapy is ideal. If your child is having a difficult time following on-line school, is struggling with learning how to read and/or understanding what they are reading, we can help. If you want to provide your child with some daily structure and/or want to work on their areas of reading and writing weakness, we can help.
Although teletherapy is fun and interactive for children, we also offer many services for adults. We are finding that many adults (young and old) are struggling to connect, and need help navigating communication skills using live video-conferencing. We are hearing complaints from working adults who had slight clarity or voice difficulties prior to COVID-19, and now because all communication is via telephone and/or video, their clarity issues have been amplified.
There are many treatment areas that we provide assessment and treatment via teletherapy including:
- Teletherapy for Learning-difficulties including: Reading, Writing. Listening & Executive Functions
- Teletherapy for Concussion/Traumatic Brain Injury & Stroke
- Teletherapy for: Articulation and/or Stuttering
- Teletherapy for: social communication and verbal expression difficulties

Teletherapy is an evidence-based, effective form of treatment delivery, is safe and saves time travelling. It removes the barrier of distance and so individuals who live in rural or underserved communities can receive the same level of care as those living in the city.
If you are concerned about the effectiveness of teletherapy and whether the treatment outcomes are as good as in-person, the evidence is clear. There is an ample body of literature comparing in-person service delivery and teletherapy with outcomes showing results equal to or better for teletherapy. However, teletherapy may not work in all patient populations or areas and, Therapy Spot clinicians are trained to assess for fit of each client. If you are wondering whether you or your child would be a candidate for teletherapy, please do not hesitate to contact us for a free 15 minute consult and we would be happy to let you know.
